Sworn to Protect

Ser Casca Mudd, also known as the 'Fox's Shadow' is the first personal knight that Mordred ever obtained, and the most loyal.Casca lived her early years in the Brume, struggling to find food and shelter. As a child with mixed heritage, although primarily hyur, she faced social stigma, isolation, and slowly lost her family. Her mother died when she was six and her father a short time after that. Left alone with a younger brother to take care of, she turned to theft to provide for the both of them, which naturally did not endear her to the locals. Her brother starved to death first and she was slowly dying herself when Viscountess Morgause found her. The Viscountess had been in the Brume conducting charity work and she took pity on the young girl, bringing her back to the Estate to learn to work as a maid. However, Casca showed herself capable of much more than that. Her ability to learn quickly, her natural combat prowess, and her sense of aim soon had her competing with grown men much older than herself, throwing at first stones, then daggers, then learning to use the bow and arrow.By fifteen, she was plenty capable. And that was when she was called upon by the Viscount to watch over his second son. At the time, he was severely ill and on the point of death. The memory of her brother stirred within her and she put other aspirations to the side to protect this one child.Over the years, she went through the process of becoming a proper House Knight and then swore fealty to Mordred specifically. For anything inbetween those events... well, you'll have to find out in character._____If you are a Knight of House Evaine: You may know her as the quiet, stoic shadow that follows around Young Lord Mordred. You also will know that she would never betray even a single secret she would have to tell him. Not even to the point of torture and death. If you are a Retainer of House Evaine: From what you know, Casca is an excellent archer. You've probably seen her competing with the other knights, and you've seen her following Mordred around frequently. She acts partly like a maid to Mordred as well, but you will never catch her gossiping with the rest of you.If you are from the Brume: She's got the accent. Lucky bitch got picked up by a noble house!

The Order of the Silver Thorn was founded by Baronet House Roulant and works directly under Baron Faulmont for the interests of House Evaine. The Order of the Silver Thorn is sworn to serve the Heir of House Evaine, whomever it may be at the time. They are sworn to protect, honor, and test the heir so that they may develop into the kind of Viscount that House Evaine needs.Traditionally, the heir of House Evaine will squire underneath the Lieutenant of the Order of the Silver Thorn on their path to knighthood as one of their expected responsibilities. From there, the heir can choose between several Knight Orders within House Evaine, but continue to carry an honorary position within the Order of the Silver Thorn moving forward. The current Lieutenant is Ser Alvarien de Mircourt and his second in command is Ser Cerise Roulant.Lord Gawain Evaine squired under and was knighted through Ser Alvarien. Like most of the Evaines, Ser Alavarien has proven that he is not over the loss of Gawain yet and he watches Mordred closely, even as he obeys his orders. There are a little under thirty knights in total within the Order of the Silver Thorn._____If you are an Ishgardian Knight: You may have heard of the Order of the Silver Thorn. Their loyalty to House Evaine is exceptional, even if their skills are rather average. Their use rises and falls depending upon the House's heir, after all, so some generations they become rather obscure. If you are an Ishgardian Noble: You know the sound of an Order of House Knights when you hear about it. Why should you care?If you are associated with House Evaine: You know that the future of House Evaine often rests in their very capable hands. It is better that they are underestimated by outsiders, however.
Ser Alvarien de Mircourt
Lieutenant of the Order of the Silver Thorn, Ser Alvarien rose up the ranks on his own merit and fighting ability. He is a veteran of the Dragonsong War and had the potential to become a Temple Knight. However, he has long professed that he prefers a quieter life, like what is afforded to him as a House Knight.
Ser Gervain Lleufort
Second Sergeant of the Oder of the Silver Thorn, Ser Gervain claims to be a Dragoon Aspirant. He failed to impress his mentor and so was forced to fall back to becoming a House Knight, but he refuses to give up, fulfilling his oath to House Evaine while continuing to pursue his ambition.
Ser Ysabet de Fleuracier
Hunt-Captain of the Order of the Silver Thorn, Ser Ysabet was born to an Ishgardian mother and Gyr Abanian father, which has prevented her from becoming a Temple Knight. Despite this setback, however, she remains steadfast and loyal to the Evaines and is one of their most capable Knights.
At a glance, the knights of the Order of the Silver Thorn can be clearly marked by their use of halonic styled armor. The Leiutenants in charge of the Order wear stag-like motifs to indicate their positions.
The helms of the regular members of the Order are all uniform as well, allowing visibility through a wide hole where the eyes rest. Like their commanding officer, the Order wears dark blue, silver, and black with golden accents. Their weapons are uniformly halonic in design as well.

The second son of Viscount Torben, Lord Mordred Evaine was not expected to become heir. He was also not expected to be vital to the continued health of his House. However, every Knight within this Order knows how valuable Mordred truly is to the Evaines.Their oath isn't to the House, it's to Mordred himself. An oath of direct fealty on point of death. Only the most radical of knights would dare to restrict themselves like this, because it means that their fate is determined by the success or failure of the one that they serve. This Order is often looked down upon within House Evaine as being full of zealots and their members remain secretive about their orders and activities. There are less than ten in number at this point, but it's clear from the way that Mordred looks at them that he's intending to expand their ranks. One person at a time.____If you are an Ishgardian Knight: You probably haven't heard of the Order of the Fox's Tail. If you heard the name, you'd likely think it was either made up, or a poor attempt at making an Order by a lordling. Maybe this will change in time.If you are an Ishgardian Noble: You know the sound of an Order of House Knights when you hear about it. Why should you care?If you are associated with House Evaine: You are aware of Mordred's influence. And his lack of substantial House Knights is proof of this. The fact that the Viscount allowed for its creation is strange, but it has so few members, why does it matter?
Ser Lysandra Corveline
A noble lady from a baron family, Lysandra was set to marry a man that she did not want to in order to retain her family's honor. Upon arriving back in Ishgard, Mordred arranged a meeting with her. Soon after, her engagement was dissolved and she was free to choose her own path. She chose to become a knight.
Ser Othric Blackmaw
A lowborn knight, Ser Othric was slated for execution after he was accused of murdering a highborn. Othric was innocent. Upon Mordred's return to Ishgard, he found out about Othric's situation and assisted in opening a new investigation to find the true culprit. When released, Othric swore fealty to Mordred.[Fell in Battle 4/19]
Ser Solenne Raimeux
A former informant for the Inquisition, Solenne was blackmailed by another noble family upon cutting ties. She professes that she once had dreams to become an inquisitor herself, but that died at the end of the Dragonsong War. Now, she follows Mordred, for the future he claims to want.[Assassinated 4/18]
Ser Brioc Wynfort
A local hero to the Coerthan frontier, Ser Brioc was a wandering knight who went where he pleased. However, merely a month before Mordred went to Caelum, a mission went wrong. The full story is known only to himself and Mordred, but whatever happened, it was enough to convince him to follow Mordred regardless.[Fell in battle 4/19]
Ser Ramses Lothaire
The bastard son of Lord Jaicont Lothaire, Ramses is the sixth born child of his family and not well looked upon. Mordred is not his first employer, but he intends for him to be his last. He was employed originally by the Evaines before swearing personal allegiance to Mordred upon his return to Ishgard.
